Reading this letter gives me chills to this day.

I will be forever grateful to Berea College for their generosity and for believing in me.

I was very hesitant about posting this, because it made me feel like I was bragging about myself.

That is not my intention.

But you know what? Maybe I am bragging – not about myself, but about a school that has figured out a way to provide students with a high-quality education without leaving them crippled by the burden of student debt.

I realize that Berea’s funding model is not scalable to a point where the entire nation can model their finances after them. However, my alma mater can still serve as a great case study for people who are working towards making education in the U.S. more affordable.
